UCR 2027.Filed for you.
We register your trucks in the federal UCR system so you don't have to. Enter your USDOT number, check the price, pay once, and the official receipt lands in your inbox, usually the same business day.
Start with your USDOT number
We pull your company, truck count and state from the FMCSA record and show your fee before you type anything else. No USDOT number yet? Get one free at FMCSA; UCR comes after.

Government fees: 49 CFR 367.50 (final rule, 91 FR, Sept 1, 2026; effective Oct 1, 2026). Our fee steps up with fleet size because bigger fleets get a real vehicle-count review.
Who needs it
Do you need UCR?
If your trucks or your freight cross a state line, yes, every year. “Interstate” is wider than driving across a line: freight that came from or is going to another state counts even if your truck never leaves the state. Size doesn't exempt you; one truck pays the lowest bracket.
| You are | What you do | Your fee |
|---|---|---|
| For-hire motor carrier | Hauls other people's freight or passengers across state lines | By fleet size |
| Private carrier | Hauls its own goods across state lines: contractors, retailers, farms | By fleet size |
| Freight forwarder | Consolidates shipments and is responsible for the move | By fleet size |
| Broker | Arranges transportation, operates no trucks | Lowest bracket |
| Leasing company | Leases vehicles without drivers to carriers | Lowest bracket |
Carrier and broker in one company? One fee, as a carrier, on the whole fleet. Source: 49 U.S.C. 14504a; UCR Plan questionnaire.
What you get
No sticker. No card. Your name in the database.
After we file, your USDOT number shows as registered in the national UCR system. That is what an officer checks at the weigh station; nothing goes in the truck. Federal law (49 U.S.C. 14506) forbids states from asking for a UCR credential in the cab. You also get the official receipt by email. Keep it for three years.

Three ways to get it done
Why not just do it yourself?
You can, and our guide shows how. Here is what changes when we do it, and what the other filing sites usually do.
| Yourself at ucr.gov | UCR Assist | Typical reseller site | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Government fee (1–2 trucks) | $55 | $55, at cost | Bundled; $95–$125 typical |
| Service fee | — | from $39, shown | Hidden in the total |
| Card surcharge | ≈ 2.97% | None | Varies |
| Truck count checked against FMCSA | You do it | Before filing | Rarely |
| Automatic renewal charge | Optional | Never | Often |
| Receipt | Download yourself | Emailed and kept 3 years | Varies |
| Refund before filing | n/a | Full | Often none after 15 min |
Reseller figures from published price lists reviewed November 2026; see the third-party filers guide. Doing it yourself is always an option: here is how.
In writing
Our promises.
- 01
The government fee is always its own line.
$55 is $55. Sites that fold it into a $125 “registration” are the reason this list exists.
- 02
We quote this year's rule, with the source.
Every fee on this site comes from 49 CFR Part 367 for the year you're registering. Nothing from last year's table.
- 03
We never pretend to be the government.
No eagles, no seals, no “official headquarters”. The official portal is ucr.gov and we link to it from every page.
- 04
Closed years aren't for sale.
Public registration for a year closes the following September 30. You won't find a closed year in our order form.
- 05
No automatic renewal. Ever.
You get one reminder email when the next window opens. Nothing is charged unless you place a new order yourself.
- 06
Full refund if we can't file.
If we can't file, everything comes back, both lines. Once the fee is paid to the UCR Plan nobody can refund it, and we say so before you pay.
Comparing filing services? The questions to ask any of them, including us.
What exactly does UCRAssist do?
We take your USDOT number, verify the vehicle count and entity type against your FMCSA record, choose the right bracket and base state under the UCR Plan rules, file your registration at the official UCR National Registration System (ucr.gov) as your authorized agent, and email you the official receipt. You pay the government fee at cost plus one flat service fee.
Are you the UCR Plan, FMCSA or a government agency?
No. UCRAssist is an independent, privately owned filing service with no affiliation to the Unified Carrier Registration Plan, FMCSA, the U.S. DOT or any state. The official portal is www.ucr.gov, where you can register yourself for the government fee alone. We say this on every page because too many sites in this space don't.
Why not just file at ucr.gov myself?
You can, and our guide walks you through it. People use us because they want the vehicle count checked against the MCS-150 before money goes to the government (that mismatch is what triggers state audits), because they want it done the same day without creating another government login, and because they want the receipt and next year's reminder landing in their inbox. If the government fee alone is what you need, ucr.gov is the right place.
What does it cost?
Two lines, both shown before you pay: the official government fee for your bracket (for 2027, $55 for 0–2 power units up to $5,548 for 101–1,000) passed through at cost, plus our service fee of $39 for fleets up to 20 power units, $49 for 6–20, $79 for 21–100 and $149 for 101–1,000. No card-processing surcharge, no hidden renewal.
How fast is it filed?
Normally within one business day of payment, often the same day. If the FMCSA record disagrees with what you entered we email you first and nothing is filed until it's resolved. The UCR Plan makes the registration visible to inspectors as soon as it's paid in their system.
What if you can't file for me?
You get a full refund — service fee and government fee — because nothing has been paid to the UCR Plan yet. Reasons that would stop a filing: a USDOT we can't verify, an inactive or out-of-service authority you'd rather fix first, or a fleet over 1,000 units that needs a hand quote. Once the government fee has been paid to the UCR Plan it is non-refundable by anyone, including the Plan itself.
